We started with seven varieties of garlic to test what might grow well at the farm. Mostly hardnecks and one softneck.
We planted four varieties of onions. Megan has a passion for pickling and onions were on the top of the pickling list.
What we’ve accomplished:
1.
2016 Garlic was a success! We harvested in mid-July and three of the varieties were standouts. We'll hold back the best bulbs for fall planting and double our crop for next year.
2.
Onions were late to get in the ground because our bee season started early. So we're seeing smaller onions than we'd like but they are delicious.
3.
We planted hyssop as a companion plant to garlic and will harvest in the fall. The bees love hyssop!
